Certainly corporate in-house recruiters maybe handling 20 searches a month when they used to do maybe 10. So I feel for them and I understand that and I also understand they get thousands and thousands of resumes but one of the things we used to impress upon our recruitment team at Sony, which I think is very good to remember is everyone who comes through the door as a candidate, is a potential customer for your product." What drives recruiters crazy about their HR departments? How has the recent recession affected the relationship between HR and recruiting?  What are recruiters trained to avoid in dealing with HR? According to Riviera Advisors' own Jeremy Eskenazi; "It’s uncertain whether the relationship between recruiters and HR generalists is like siblings, spouses, or parent-child (if the latter, it’s also unclear who’s the parent and who’s the child). What is clear is they’re all part of the same family. And it’s mutually beneficial that they get along." For those of you listening to this podcast who are not in recruiting or HR, the relationship between these two critical roles within organizations is oftentimes not very pleasant… in fact, it can be highly competitive, antagonistic, and downright adversarial. Welcome to a special Inside Recruiting – Talent Acquisition Channel Podcast on TotalPicture Radio, with Host Peter Clayton reporting. After hearing Matthew Jeffery's opening keynote, Host Peter Clayton really wanted to interview him. He's the "Jamie Oliver" of recruiting. Not only does he have an important message, he's entertaining. Can a recruiter make you cry? Traditional recruiters are in danger of becoming obsolete as companies look to build emotional relationships with both employees and external communities. Recruitment 3.0 focuses on the building of communities of talent that modern recruitment marketers will need to engage and nurture. Recruitment marketers who can inspire their communities will be at a premium in the online age as social media starts to replace traditional media and traditional recruitment attraction techniques as the strategy of choice. Matthew Jeffery, voted "Recruitment Personality of the Year," is an excellent case-in-point. Two weeks ago, he was Global Director of Talent Brand, Electronic Arts -- today, he's Head of EMEA Talent Acquisition and Global Talent Brand at Autodesk. "If your employees are not being headhunted by a recruiter — what is wrong with your employees?" Matthew Jeffery

He transitioned to Vice President of Human Resources in the Fall of 2010, as the company began to build out a larger internal HR team to reflect and expand the company’s employment brand and culture. Dan’s background is in talent acquisition and training, with a double life as an improv actor. According to an article in Forbes, Groupon is the fastest growing start-up ever. Faster than Google -- faster than Facebook. How does Dan balance his acting career with a very demanding job at Groupon? Hear TotalPictureRadio host, Peter Clayton reporting from ERE Expo 2011 Spring in San Diego, California. The first question Peter asked Dan... "Tell us about the candidate experience... Groupon is a hot company -- I'm sure a lot of job applicants think this is a place where they can pile on the stock options and get rich quick. How do you deal with the volume of candidates and still keep people happy about your brand and the customer relationships?" At the end of the interview, (as a total goof), Peter asked Dan if he was auditioning for the Aflac duck. They both had a good laugh. Later that night, Peter saw Dan in the hotel lobby. He said, "my agent called me this afternoon to audition for Aflac!" .
