EMPLOYMENT
MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION: EMA ST. LOUIS BREAKFAST
MEETING
I'M NOT JUST
A RECRUITER…I’M AN EXPERT CONSULTANT! Key
consulting skills for Recruitment
Professionals.
Keynote Presentation
Today, organizations require more than just a
transactional recruiter to support their talent
needs…they need solid professionals with
excellent internal consulting skills. Utilizing
tools such as contracting, metrics, and other
communications tools, you can become an expert
consultant. We’ll discuss the tools and
resources you’ll need to transform your role
from recruiter into a key consultant inside of
your organization. We’ll discuss how to position
ourselves and our teams as “expert consultants”,
not internal vendors. The role of “corporate
recruiter” (staffing, talent acquisition, or
whatever you want to call it), has gone through
several phases in the last few years. The role
has also gone through a good amount of change.
From HR Generalists having to “punch their
ticket” in the recruiting space along the way to
something else… to highly aggressive
“sales”-oriented recruiters focused on
technology and direct sourcing. But now, at the
middle of the first decade of the new
millennium, the role of recruiter is truly
moving into a profession of its own…but we’ll
need to do more. We’ll have to transform our
roles into a business leadership role.
In
this session, we’ll visit the opportunities and
challenges we face as a profession, AND…how to
address these challenges head on. We’ll revisit
the basis of all great recruiting and staffing
excellence: the understanding that recruiting,
and HR for that matter, is really about building
and cultivating relationships.
We’ll discuss the tools and resources you’ll
need to “take it up a notch” and transform
yourself into a business leader.
Join noted staffing strategist, Jeremy
Eskenazi…as he shares stories from his
experiences within many of his own recruitment
leadership roles as well as his many global
consulting clients on what’s working and what’s
not in the world of corporate recruiting. In
this interactive and fun session, you will learn
not only the issues but solid tactics on:
-
What are the challenges for the recruiting
profession in the next few years, and how to
address those challenges
-
How use “contracting” in our day-to-day
relationships, and how to walk the line
between being “of service” and not being
“customer service”
-
How to position ourselves and our teams as
“expert consultants” not internal vendors.
-
What are they key elements of a successful
contracted relationship or Service Level
Agreement
-
What tools,
templates, and resources do great
recruitment “Account Managers”
use today to improve their consulting skills
and delivery

THE
RECRUITERS GUIDE TO NAVIGATING CORPORATE
POLITICS: Dealing with organizational
politics and maneuvering through organizational
issues are some of the biggest issues we face as
a profession. In this interactive session,
you’ll learn how to effectively manage and
leverage corporate politics as a recruiting
professional. Specifically, we’ll discuss
organizational issues such as: effectively
partnering with Human Resource Generalists and
other HR teams; managing relationships with
other teams such as corporate communications,
legal, purchasing, etc.; and working with
business leaders. Dealing with issues such as
overcoming negative perceptions of the
recruiting function and turning around searches
that have gone “sour” are primary issues that
can cause serious credibility problems. In this
session, we’ll learn some of the key levers to
change perceptions, enhance credibility, and
gain control in the political environment of the
organization. Although this session is designed
for recruiting leaders, everyone will gain some
specific take-aways. Jeremy will share some very
specific examples from his 20+ years as a
recruiting and staffing leader including sharing
some major political wins (and some mistakes)
that everyone can learn from.
John Vlastelica, Principal at
Riviera Advisors will be presenting at this
conference as well. John will present on
Wednesday, April 18th, the following
breakout session at ERExpo 2007:
